Provenance |
In fall 1911 Mr. Shearer, who worked at the Coquitlam Hardware Store, was the victim of an elevator accident in the Dominion Hotel at Victoria which left him without the use of his legs. He was 26 at the time and going to see a football (i.e. soccer) game. He lived at 2055 Mary Hill Rd (Lot 8, District lot 289, Plan 1761) which was sold by the family upon Jack's death in 1926. At the time of writing in the 1970s, Edith Chambers notes the marks left by his chair were still visible on the house. The house still stands as of 2023. |
