Description |
Oil on canvas. Black wood frame, no glazing. Dimensions: 86 x 70.5 cm Painting depicts the departure of men on a CPR coach train from Westminster Junction Station to serve in WWI. Train is maroon and reads Canadian Pacific along the top of the train. Men look out from train; one holds British flag and another reaches out to a friend/family member. People of all ages and walks of life are at station to say farewell; there are children, upper class looking figures, and an officer holding a cane. Amoung the people at the station, there is a sign that reads: "Your City Needs You, Call To Action" at BL of painting. Westminster JCT. is visible on the white with green trim station building. Artist signature is in red paint at BR corner of painting. |
